Episode 20: Monsters: A First Look

This is the first episode of the new season, which tackles monsters in Greek myth from a number of perspectives. In this episode, we’ll cover some of the basics about monsters and talk to an expert on the subject, Professor Debbie Felton of the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, who has written several books on the super- and preternatural in the ancient world. She is author on books on ghost stories as well as serial killers as monsters, and currently she is editing the mega-monstrously large Oxford Handbook of Monsters in Classical Myth, which will feature some 40 articles on individual monsters, theories of the monstrous, and the ways that Greek monsters have been received by later generations (also called “reception”).
