Palaiphatos translation on Scaife Viewer

Written by Greta Hawes

The aim of Canopos is to get more people reading what the Greeks had to say about their own myths.

With this in mind, we’re working to produce translations of works of ancient mythography, and put them up on the web for anyone to access.

This small project fits well with the much larger ambitions of Open Greek and Latin (previously, Perseus). So we’re delighted to announce that the first Canopos texts are now available via OGL’s Scaife Viewer. These include Palaiphatos’ On Unbelievable Stories in a new translation produced by current and former students of the Centre for Classical Studies at the Australian National University. (I wrote about it here.)

Enormous thanks go to Lisa Cerruto at Perseus Digital Library and to Lia Hanhardt and Lenny Muellner at the Center for Hellenic Studies for shepherding both texts into the digital sphere with such efficiency.
